Day 2: Prayer Keeps Us Connected

Any strong relationship requires communication!

As covered in Day 1, we understand that we must build a relationship with God, and part of building a strong relationship is communication. Because Christ died at calvary for the remission of our sins, we now have access to God ("But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ"-Eph 2:13). A sinless and righteous man, laid down his life so that we might have everlasting life. John 1:9 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name", we now have an inheritance and are able to claim the kinship of the Lord!
Prayer helps us stay connected with God. When God communicates with us, we hear the infallible word of truth. Gods word is true. Jesus showed us the way of prayer; note how Christ would often seperate himself from the host of people and steal away to pray. Christ demonstrated just how important pray is. When his disciples saw him pray, one asked, "Lord teach us how to pray"-Luke 11:1. And the Lord showed them in what manner to pray and how to pray (Matthew 6:6-13). Prayer is important; prayer to the believer is like oxygen for us, if there's no oxygen we would get weak and die, for the believer if we lack prayer (communication) with God we grow weak in spirit leading us to a spiritual death!

LET'S TALK:
1. Why do you feel prayer is important?
2. What does it mean to "pray without ceasing", why would you need to "pray without ceasing"?
3. What did you learn about prayer from Matthew 6:6-13?
4. **SHINE YOUR LIGHT** blog anything you gain from this section or any spiritual light you would like to share
